I don’t know what it is like to build with other builders, but I do know throughout the build and living in our home, we have NEVER had the negative experiences other friends and nearby home owners had with their builder. Regarding the quality of home – We had two warranty issues: 1. Carpet on the stairs needed to be replaced; 2. The master bedroom sink cracked. With both issues, VanOverschelde Custom Homes was prompt and both issues were resolved within two weeks of reporting. I am very pleased with our home. It is well built, well lit, gorgeous inside and out. Every day feels like a dream come true here.
About the building process. It was overall an enjoyable one. Nick was there for us every step of the way. He spent many hours planning our home before we even decided for sure to build it. He allowed us to change big things like room dimensions, roof design, garage door size and little things like shower head height, wall outlets that have USB ports in them from the original plan just to name a few. We worked very closely with Nick, our realtor and an included designer who all 3 came along with us to shop for all the items on our allowance list which are a requirement for customizing a home. They pointed us to quality products at quality local stores that fit our budget and matched our color and style scheme as well as steered us away from products that they didn’t recommend. We are very sure our home wouldn’t look as good as it does had we shopped by ourselves. Having our contractor, realtor and designer with us made the process an enjoyable stress free experience; most contractors don’t offer this wonderful option.
Our home was built on time as promised. If and when there were problems along the way they were handled professionally, immediately, and to our satisfaction. We never once wished we would have chosen a different contractor.
Nick is a guy we liked from the very beginning to today. Nick is knowledgeable, experienced, and has great overall management skills of all the different aspects of home building and handles problems and problem solving very well.
The subcontractors do excellent work. We only met a few of them and they definitely were guys who cared about their work. One plumber told us Nick is his favorite general contractor to work for and I can see why. The subcontractor’s work speaks about the craftsmanship they have. Nick was at our home the day after closing making sure everything was taken care of and answering questions.
My wife and I are very happy with our decision to choose Vanoverschelde Custom Homes and would chose them again if we ever built another home.
